Determine the voltage across the resistor

Determine the voltage across the resistor and the power dissipated

Determine the voltage across the resistor

Image from: Irwin, J. David., and R. M. Nelms. Basic Engineering Circuit Analysis, Tenth Edition. N.p.: John Wiley & Sons, 2010.

Solution:

Let us first find the voltage. Voltage is V=IR where I is current and R is resistance.

V=(2A)(12\Omega)

V=24V

Now, let us find the power dissipated.

P=(I^2)(R)

P=(2^2)(12)

P=48W
