Calculate the power absorbed by element A

Calculate the power absorbed by element A in the figure.

Calculate the power absorbed by element A

Solution:

We know that power, p=vi where v is voltage and i is current.

From the question, we know that power is absorbed by element A. Thus, using the sign convention given to us in the diagram:

p=(15v)(-3A)

p=-45w
